Your Personal Story

This project will be a “work in progress” thoughout the school year. It is a multi-media project using Pen & Ink and Colored Pencils. The main objective is to tell your story, at this time in your life, with images and text. In addition, you will incorporate all of the “Elements and Principles” of art. Before you begin, take time to write down your favorite things to do, important people, faith, hobbies, sports, family, pets and/or animals, etc. Work out how you can translate your life into pictures. You can use words, but keep it to a minimum. Make sure you leave room for your name and the year completed. You will need a pencil, Kneaded Eraser, Pentel Clic Eraser, Koh-L-Noor Woodless Colored Pencils, colorless blender, .01, .03, .05 technical pens, black sharpie, ruler, and 9×12 Bristol Paper for this project.

Print and refer to this while completing your story. This post will contain mostly of pictures to illustrate the progression. After you make your list, draw in your sketchbook pictures of the items on your list. Use real photographs, as a reference, for your drawings.

Step 1- Draw a freeform shape or geometric shape.

Step 2- Make the freeform (or geometric) shape 3 dimensional.

Step 3- Begin Your Story. I drew a 1 Point Perspective building to start my story. The rest of this post will be without steps because you will be drawing your own story. You can refer to this post to get ideas.

Step 4- After you complete “Your Personal Story,” take a Kneaded Eraser and pick up the extra graphite by dabbing your artwork. You will ruin your technical ink pens if you don’t.

Step 5- Make sure you clean your Ink Pen frequently.

Step 6- When inking, try not to outline your freeform or geometric shape. It is a nice effect if the colored images create the outline. * Look above. Also, I chose to put in the sky before I inked that area.
