Now that you have created a compelling sunset it is time to create the landscape using a variety of textures. First, you must erase the colors that are directly below the blue mountains. If you don’t, the blue mountains will turn green because they will automatically mix with the yellow from the sunset. After you’ve cleaned the areas, it is time to begin.
Use white zigzags over the furthest mountain.
Use the dark blue Woodless Colored Pencil to create a crisp outline while zigzagging blue inwards to take away the outline. Then, use horizontal zigzags towards inside the mountain.
Complete horizontal zigzags until the mountain is covered.
Use a Colorless Blender to blend mountain. Important: When blending textures, use the same strokes when used in creating the textures. For this example, you will be blending using horizontal zigzags.
Use white zigzags over the blended mountain to create an atmospheric perspective mountain.
Use upright zigzags using Dark Green or Hookers Green to create the illusion of trees in the distance.
Continue upright zigzags strokes moving down the mountainside and horizontal within the mountain. Make sure your zigzags overlap each other.
Use Light Green to overlap zigzags within your mountain and along the mountainside.
Blend using Zigzag strokes, then go over with Light Green again for vibrancy.
Outline next mountain using indigo. Create contour edges of snow.
Use zigzags in horizontal strokes, but go down diagonally. Fill in gaps in a triangular shape at the base of the mountain. Use white to fill in the snow areas.
Use zigzags, in ultramarine blue to fill in areas. * Make sure there are still white areas in the mountain.
Use the texture scumbling (circles) in ultramarine blue. Fill in the area.
Imbed the snow into the mountain and blend.
Use indigo to create a silhouette, not an outline on the next mountain.
Use vertical zigzags to create texture. Do not fill in. Use a black contour line on the inside.
Using Ultramarine, cross hatch inside the mountain.
Next, you will use a variety of analogous purples and blues to complete next mountain. See picture below for guidance. Zigzag in vertical strokes up the mountain.
Example of colors
Use a variety of colors above to complete mountain, then blend.
